Hastelloy B2 (Hastelloy B-2) round bar characteristics
Hastelloy B2 is a corrosion-resistant alloy with nickel and molybdenum as the main components. It is widely used in highly corrosive environments such as chemical, petroleum, and pharmaceutical. Its round bar products have the following characteristics:
1. Chemical composition and microstructure
Main components: nickel (Ni) balance, molybdenum (Mo) 26-30%, iron (Fe) ≤2.0%, chromium (Cr) ≤1.0%, carbon (C) ≤0.02%, silicon (Si) ≤0.10%.
Microstructure: face-centered cubic lattice, by controlling the iron and chromium content, the formation of β-phase Ni₄Mo is inhibited to avoid intergranular corrosion.
2. Corrosion resistance
Strong reducing media: It performs well in hydrochloric acid at various temperatures and concentrations, and has excellent corrosion resistance to non-oxidizing acids such as medium-concentration sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, and acetic acid.
Chloride ion environment: It has excellent resistance to chloride ion reduction stress corrosion cracking (SCC) and is suitable for marine engineering and chemical equipment containing chloride ions.
High temperature corrosion resistance: It can still maintain excellent corrosion resistance at high temperatures and is suitable for high temperature reactors and heat exchangers.
3. Mechanical properties
High temperature strength: It can still maintain high strength and stability at around 1000℃ and is suitable for high temperature environments.
Yield strength and tensile strength: The yield strength is about 310 MPa, and the tensile strength is about 690 MPa, with high bearing capacity.
Ductility: The elongation is greater than 40%, with good plasticity and processing properties.
4. Physical properties
Density: about 9.24 g/cm³.
Melting point: 1330-1380℃.
Thermal conductivity: about 10.8 W/m·K at 20℃.
Thermal expansion coefficient: about 13.6×10⁻⁶/℃ in the range of 20-100℃.
6. Application fields
Chemical industry: used to manufacture reactors, heat exchangers, pipelines and other equipment resistant to strong acids such as hydrochloric acid and sulfuric acid.
Petrochemical industry: suitable for high temperature and high pressure oil refining equipment and chemical equipment.
Pharmaceutical industry: used to produce pharmaceutical equipment for highly corrosive media.
Environmental protection field: used to manufacture equipment such as flue gas desulfurization and wastewater treatment.
