Hastelloy B2 round bar properties
Hastelloy B2 is a nickel-molybdenum alloy with the following main properties:
1. Excellent corrosion resistance:
It is particularly good at resisting corrosion from reducing media, such as various concentrations of hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, and organic acids such as acetic acid.
It also has good corrosion resistance to hydrogen chloride gas and hydrogen sulfate chloride.
It performs well in reducing and moderately oxidizing environments.
It also has a certain resistance to pitting, stress corrosion cracking and intergranular corrosion.
2. Good mechanical properties:
It has high strength.
Good plasticity and toughness.
It can still maintain good strength at high temperatures.
3. Good welding performance:
It can be welded using a variety of welding methods.
The weld has good corrosion resistance.
4. Chemical composition (approximate range):
Nickel (Ni): balance (usually above 65%)
Molybdenum (Mo): 26.0 - 30.0%
Iron (Fe): up to 6.0%
Chromium (Cr): up to 1.0%
Manganese (Mn): up to 1.0%
Silicon (Si): up to 0.5%
Carbon (C): up to 0.02%
Phosphorus (P): up to 0.02%
Sulfur (S): up to 0.02%
5. Application areas:
Chemical processing industry, especially in environments where reducing acids such as hydrochloric acid and sulfuric acid are handled.
Used in the manufacture of equipment such as reactors, evaporators, heat exchangers, pipelines and valves.
Petrochemical industry.
Environmental protection equipment, such as flue gas desulfurization systems.
It should be noted that:
Hastelloy B2 is not as corrosion resistant in oxidizing media as some other Hastelloy alloys (such as C series).
Not suitable for high temperature and strong oxidizing environments.
In summary, Hastelloy B2 round bar plays a key role in specific industrial fields due to its excellent corrosion resistance and good mechanical properties in a reducing environment.
